Troop 1241 has been meeting at their Scout House at 1524 Middlebelt Road in Garden City since 1942. In January of 1944, troop members Charles Ford and Robert Drake died in a school bus accident. In August 1944, the Ford-Drake Scout Memorial was incorporated to honor Ford and Drake and has sponsored the troop ever since. In 1947, Ford Motor Company deeded the Scout House to the Ford-Drake Scout Memorial for $100.
